From pop singers to Broadway legends to YouTube stars, this year, the biggest and brightest names had done a lot to give back. Below are the 2016’s most charitable celebrities. It is absolutely no surprise that many of our favorite stars made the cut.
Beyonce topped the Celebs Gone Good List of 2016. She was named as the most charitable celebrity of 2016. She indeed runs the world! The stunning pop superstar brought awareness to a number of causes in this year, including the water crisis in Flint, Black Lives Matter, Michigan, and gender equality. She raised more than $82,000 for Flint by asking fans to donate some amount when purchasing tickets to her Formation tour. She also headlined a Tidal charity concert to benefit the Robin Hood Foundation and support education. Some time in August, she brought the mothers of gun violence victims Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Oscar Grant and Trayvon Martin, to the MTV VMAs. Most of the women who appeared in her visual album- Lemonade were holding photos of their late sons, who were victims of high-profile shootings.
Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda came second in the list.
Others who made it to this list include Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato.
After the tragic June shooting at an LGBT nightclub in Orlando, the Broadway star gave a touching speech at this 2016 Tony Awards to remind everyone that “love is love” . In addition to it, he released a song with Jennifer Lopez, “Love Make the World Go Round,” and donated all the proceeds to the Hispanic Federation’s Proyecto Somos Orlando initiative.
Meanwhile, Lovato spoke out about some mental health issues, Taylor Swift donated $1 million to help flood victims in Louisiana.
