It is extremely hard to pick a limited list of favorites in what is hoping to be another crowded year. 2017 looks quite promising. It can be said to be a golden year, considering the upcoming releases. Still, we must pick favorites, so here is a list of 16 Most awaited Hollywood movies of 2017.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (January 27)
The first on the list of most awaited Hollywood movies of 2017 is Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Five years after the Resident Evil: Retribution, Milla Jovovich returns to close the sci-fi horror franchise she has led for more than a decade. Despite the long gap between sequels, this one will pick up right where Retribution left off. If phrases like the Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City, and “t-virus” strike you, then you may want to book your calendar in advance.
John Wick: Chapter 2 (February 10)
After everything he went through in the first movie, we wonder what could convince John Wick to come out of retirement? This time, one of John Wick’s old friends is in the middle of a scheme to topple an assassin’s guild, and he needs backup. The circumstances might be different, but the end results look the same.
The Lego Batman Movie (February 10)
Not too long ago, a movie “based on” Legos seemed too silly, but then The Lego Movie earned nearly $470 million. Warner Bros. is right in with a universe of Lego-derived films, starting with this amazing spin-off, which brings back Will Arnett. He is joined by his Arrested Development castmate Michael Cera as Robin, Zach Galifianakis as the Joker and Mariah Carey as the mayor.

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) and starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and Samuel L. Jackson, this movie gives viewers the biggest version of a character they’ve ever seen.
Beauty and the Beast (March 17)
Disney’s campaign to turn their animated classics into live-action blockbusters with Beauty and the Beast offers a new perspective on the 1991 hit. This version too draws inspiration from the very classic fairy tale about a prince who is cursed with a horrible appearance, yet he finds love with a pure-hearted maiden (Emma Watson) imprisoned in his castle. The story is a bit dark, but Disney’s animated adaptation put a family-friendly spin on it with music and humor. We might expect the same here. Moreover, a cast including Ewan McGregor and Sir Ian McKellen is an added advantage.
Power Rangers (March 24)
Those red, blue, black, pink, green or white ninja steel-wielding high schoolers were loads of fun to watch. The forthcoming Power Rangers isn’t the first movie. Director Dean Israelite’s take on the story offers a much serious account of how these teens managed to become a band of world saviors, battling the evil forces. The film features Dacre Montgomery, R.J. Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G., Zack Taylor, and Billy Cranston as the squad. It’s going to be a huge success if the film manages to renew even a part of the Power Rangers frenzy from the 90s.
The Fate of the Furious (April 14)
The Fate of the Furious (alternatively known as Fast & Furious 8) is an upcoming 2017 American action film directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Chris Morgan. Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead Men Tell No Tales (May 26)
Pre-production on this fifth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean saga started back when the previous sequel, 2011’s On Stranger Tides, was on its way to theaters, and its path through development has been strewn with script difficulties and budget-induced delays. Still, any new chapter in a franchise that’s grossed nearly $4 billion counts as a promising development for the studio, and Disney has stood by while producer Jerry Bruckheimer steered Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales to its destination. Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki), this adventure sees Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow face off against an old nemesis played by Javier Bardem—and sees the return of Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner in his new guise as Davy Jones.
Wonder Woman (June 2)
Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will get a standalone feature after being introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is the first installment in a period-piece trilogy that will take the audiences from the 1920s to the present day. Patty Jenkins is at the helm, with a screenplay from Pan writer Jason Fuchs. Gadot will be surrounded by the supporting cast- Chris Pine, Danny Huston, and Robin Wright. It is a long, overdue victory for comics fans who’ve waited years for the Wonder woman to get a shot at the big screen.
Transformers: The Last Knight (June 23)
Every time Michael Bay thinks he is out of the Transformers franchise, he is pulled back in with a fresh amount of cash. The Last Knight looks like it will plunge viewers into a time-traveling plot that includes King Arthur and an alternate history in which Nazis won the World War II. Plenty of action would be a bonus.
Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 7)
Spider-Man film universe dealt a setback after director Marc Webb’s reboots performed poorly. Even then, the core franchise remains a top priority at the studio.
