As the years pass by, actors and actresses begin to leave their T.V. shows for other projects. Anyway the show goes on. But when it comes to the lead actors leaving in the middle, the show lies under immense jeopardy. Apparently, The Vampire Diaries is no exception to this since the series lead Nina Dobrev announced she will be quitting the longtime CW show at the end of season 6 to take a break and pursue other projects. At least that is what she said.
She broke the news to her Instagram followers in a lengthy message that looked back on her time on the hit show.
I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime. I was a human, a vampire, a doppelganger, a crazy immortal, a doppelganger pretending to be human, a human pretending to be a doppelganger. I got kidnapped, killed, resurrected, tortured, cursed, body-snatched, was dead and undead and so much more!
These are some possible reasons as to why the gorgeous TVD actress Nina Dobrev left The Vampire Diaries and broke the hearts of her fans-
- The main stars were originally contracted for six seasons, and each one of them could then decide if they wanted to do more. Nina had been hinting/saying that she wanted off TVD after six seasons even before she and Ian broke up. As she said herself on her Instagram account when she broke the news, “I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure.”
- Nina wanted to do movies, which was impossible to do when she was in Atlanta two-thirds of the year. Also, working on a show like The Vampire Diaries can be incredibly long hours, particularly for someone who plays multiple characters. According to sources, it’s a big part of the reason Katherine (Elena’s doppelganger) was killed off. It was just too much to handle long-term.
- Another possible and by far the most plausible reason could be that because she found it too awkward to be on set with Ian after they split. Especially when her best friend Nikki [Reed] and Ian got engaged. Maybe that solidified her decision. There is a fair chance that It’s not about Nina pursuing bigger roles, It’s just because she can’t stand to work on set with Ian every day.
All that said, everyone knows that working with an ex, and having to shoot intimate love scenes is not the ideal workplace scenario. After all we are all humans and let’s face it, breakups are hard. So, did Nina leave the show solely because things didn’t work out with her boyfriend? Would she have decided to stay on past season six if she had stayed together with Ian? Maybe yes. But despite rumors that Nina was keen to leave the show because of her failed relationship with co-star Ian, the writer Julie Plec insists that there wasn’t any ‘hard feelings’ around her exit. Nina “was just looking forward to moving on with no hard feelings and no drama,” Plec revealed.
Anyway, a decision like that can be a combination of multiple reasons. Though, the show still survived another season after Nina Dobrev left The Vampire Diaries, the viewers declined. So what do you think? Do you miss Elena? Should the show go on further without her? Comment your views below.
